Last night we ran camera for a Chinese Karaoke Competition. It wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be, but it was pretty crazy shooting a show that was minimally in English.
What’s the opposite of a fan boy again? Is it a hater? I’m pretty sure I’m an Apple hater. I just can’t help it. Closed down systems, DRM out the ass, if it breaks you have to take it in, twice the price of the competition? It’s like designer jeans. I will give them the benefit of the doubt though, they are pretty.
I giggled myself to sleep last night thinking about this.
Yesterday marked the two year anniversary of Occupy Wall Street. And to celebrate(or protest) they gathered in Zuccotti park again. Deep down I want to side with these guys. Not even that deep down. I agree with 95% of their message, but I have a lot of problems at their lack of direction and effectiveness. If you were to ask the people in this group what they were speaking out against they would have a laundry list of different answers, and while protesting may bring an issue to light, it isn’t doing much to change anything. It’s pretty easy for a bunch of kids with dreadlocks playing in a drum circle to be ignored. It’s New York City I can ignore just about anything. I just heard a bit by Doug Stanhope on his new Netflix special. He basically said that all these guys got done is fuck up a park. Which I can’t help but agree with. If you want to change the world you’re going to have to do more than sit in a park singing God Bless America and waving a placard.
Was a long summer. There was a lot of work to be done, most of all during the Summer Concert Series. I worked 11 of the 14. Got a lot of great pictures some of which you guys got to see. It was hard work, and I know a lot of us are relieved that tomorrow is the last of them for us. But at the same time it’s kind of a bummer. It’s the official end of summer, and even though the work was hard, it couldn’t have been with better people.
