Was pleasantly surprised with close friends from out of town. Was treated to fun walks, awesome conversation, drudging up the past(in the best way possible), eating decadent food, laughing, and drinking good coffee. It was a great day, and been a good week. Will miss you guys.
Broke the rules with this one a little bit. I didn’t take either of the photos in this composite today. They were taken a month ago and over last summer respectively. I did shoot all day, just nothing I like more than the double image I made in a mini photoshop tutorial for a friend. I’m updating the bylaws.
I love shooting food. I get to tell it to stand up straight and look its best. Then I get to be all finicky with the light and angle, and I never have to worry about it getting annoyed. Except ice cream. Ice cream’s version of annoyed is melting. Ice cream is a bit of a Prima Donna.
I don’t need much. The love of a good woman(thankfully I found her), good coffee, good food, fresh air and the rare days where I get to enjoy these things without distraction.
So I had the chance to shoot the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Yonkers today. There’s something interesting about the spectacle and anachronistic nature of the whole thing. People gathering along a busy road to watch marching bands and groups walk down the street. Larger scale ones with balloons and floats. It’s interesting when put into modern perspective, most of us can’t walk down the street without taking our eyes off our phones, our own personal escapes. Then here we are doing this big collective thing. I’m not hitting the nail on the head with this, but I think it would be an interesting project to go to other “small”(read not manhattan) towns and shoot their parades in a similar fashion.
I used to live with these two, now they’re heading out on an adventure together. Happy explorations you two.
Running on an hour of sleep, been moving since 5:10am, but still had a crazy productive day.
Long exposures and relics from the past. I guess today’s theme is temporal. 
Seagulls are gross and they’re weird, but they can fly while we’re stuck down here unless we have a boarding pass.
