Kimball TheatreHistoric Kimball Theater on Yonkers Ave.  I know next to nothing about this place other than it was almost accidentally burnt down by squatter last year.  I’ve always had an interest in photographing abandoned buildings.  I still can’t put a finger on why I’m drawn to them, sometimes I think its because it comments on how much of a throwaway culture we have, and sometimes I think that I’m thinking about it too much, and that it just looks cool.

Watching Planes Land

So as I said I spent the past few days in South Boston laying on the beach.  And being so close to Logan International, I was watching more planes than clouds go by.  So before leaving I decided to get a close shot of one landing.

L Street community center has been a mainstay of South Boston since 1931.  I spent the past few days with my father, and for the first time decided to spend some time with him there.  The facility looks as old as it is, but has so much character its hard not to enjoy yourself there.  The members seem to be cut from the same cloth, but if you sit and talk to them, you’ll notice quickly that each of them have their own rich stories to tell you.  Ex Boston PD, clergy, truck drivers, construction workers, immigrants, and a huge peppering of ex boxers make up the populace at L Street.  You never know who you’re talking to there, and while I’m sure there is more than a few tall tails to be heard, most of them seem to be pretty genuine.

Safety first when dangling your prized possession out of a moving vehicle.

Got stuck in horrendous traffic on my way to Boston at like 4 different spots.  So today’s photo involves dangling thousands of dollars worth of equipment out of window of a moving vehicle while operating said vehicle. The current photo is a placeholder since I can’t upload my photos from the road for now.

Watched at Sunset
Decided to stare at the sun.

So through the advice of a good friend, I am starting a 1 photo a day blog.  I will shoot everyday no matter what, and at the end of the day will upload a photo accompanied by some text.  This will serve as an example for that.  The only stipulations for me not posting will be if I do not come home to my computer that night, in which case I will have to double (or triple, quadrupal, etc) up when I do get to my computer.  For example I’m going to Boston for a few days and most likely will not be able to post.  So I will have to make up for that when I get back to a computer.

Anyway cheers and thanks for starting this journey with me.
